For the first time ever on compact disc, Alexander Boggs Ryan plays the Aeolian-Skinner pipe organs at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Kalamazoo, Michigan, and St. Thomas Church, New York City. Disc One was recorded in 1970 for Aeolian-Skinner's "The King of Instruments" series, and is taken directly from the master tapes, with additional material recorded at the same time but never released on LP. Disc Two was recorded by Mirrosonic in 1964 on the 1956 Aeolian-Skinner at St. Thomas Church, New York City, but never released. With over two hours of playing time, these two Stereo discs are accompanied by a 16-page booklet with program notes, photos, and complete stoplists. Music includes Bach - "St. Anne" Fugue; Franck - Choral in A Minor; Reger - Phantasie and Fugue on "Wachet Auf!"; Reubke - Sonata in C Minor; Vierne - Naiades; Sowerby - "Comes Autumn Time" and "Prelude on Deus Tuorum Militum," and other music by Buxtehude, Clerambault, Couperin, Langlais, and Marchand.
